Growing Food, Growing Community: Intergenerational Gardening

three children gardening with an adultGardens offer great opportunities not only to grow fresh fruits and vegetables, but also to meet your neighbors. Age-Friendly DC partner, DC Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) connects residents of all ages and abilities who want to garden with spaces and opportunities to do so. Gardening spaces can include school gardens, community gardens, private backyards, or any space where there is an opportunity to grow food.

For more information on Community Gardens or Communal Farms, visit DPR’s website or email [email protected]. Check out DPR's map of community gardens in the District below.
